The opposite of addiction
is connection

“I had burned every bridge by the time I came to No Longer Bound. But when the volunteers who came to campus were so nice to me, they made me feel like maybe I could have a life again.”

Ways to volunteer

On-campus volunteers are part of the therapeutic journey for the residents at No Longer Bound. Over and over, men mention the relationships they form with loving volunteers as playing a crucial role in their healing process. Ironically, volunteers leave our campus saying the same—that they feel “ministered to” by our men.

Group and Individual

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for both groups and individuals who want to help and encourage the men at No Longer Bound. We also offer remote opportunities as well.

  • Bring a meal Monday, Fridays and Saturdays and/or an activity and enjoy fellowship with the men.
  • Donate a meal (home-cooked, catered or other culinary treats) for drop-off.
  • Sort donations at one of our thrift stores.
  • Lead an on-campus beautification project
  • Collect items in need
  • Get creative, and create your own volunteer opportunity

Impact Volunteers

A small number of high engagement volunteer opportunities exist for those who want to make a big impact. Contact us for more information on current opportunities.

  • One-on-one mentorship: In the last months of their program, we connect men with a mentor from the community.
  • Vocational training partnership: Vocational training and career preparation is part of No Longer Bound’s Regeneration process. We are always in need of community partners to participate in this effort.
  • Administrative support: Data entry and other administrative opportunities exist as they come up.
  • Event volunteers

“I feel like I am helping to make NLB sustainable, allowing another addict to have the opportunity to recover and stand on their own two feet. Using my background and talents, I am hoping that the revenue coming from the thrift stores allows NLB to help a greater number of men. There are so many opportunities to help the organization; every bit counts towards one big goal.”

LAURIE, Volunteer

“You can’t put a price on relationships. The volunteers who come to No Longer Bound show us there is more to life than substances. We even learn new hobbies or passions from them.”

BRIAN, Resident

“If you have any preconceived notions or judgment about addicts or addiction, go and serve a meal at NLB. Put perspective of someone’s son, father, brother, husband onto the face of a man you meet. Spend time asking them about their lives, their families, their stories. Don’t just go and drop off some purchased meal – plan to cook on-site, serve, then eat dinner with them. If you keep coming back, you are likely to see men transform before your eyes. You might even have an opportunity to develop a lifelong friendship.”

JOHN, Volunteer

“I left campus feeling full beyond measure and completely recharged. To anyone considering volunteering, just remember that the enemy will give you every reason to not step out of your comfort zone. Put down your fears about what others would think. Once you do, it’s one of the most amazing things you can do.”

LISA, Volunteer

“Do you want to see God at work? Then go spend some time around the men and get to know them. Pray for them as they fight and struggle. You will likely build a friendship where you can see firsthand the great work this program does and see God right in the middle of it!”

AARON, Volunteer
